Chief of Police position

CHIEF OF POLICE – NORTH CATASAUQUA BOROUGH NORTHAMPTON COUNTY, PA

 

The Borough of North Catasauqua is seeking applicants for the position of Chief of Police.   North Catasauqua Borough currently has a full-time Police department with four full-time officers and four part-time officers serving a community of approximately 3000 residents in a 1 square mile area.

The chief under general administrative direction; plans, directs, manages and oversees the activities and operations of the Borough of North Catasauqua Police Department including law enforcement, criminal investigations, crime prevention, disaster response, community problem solving, general community support services and related support services, coordinates assigned activities with other department and outside agencies.

College Degree is preferred and work-related experience required.  The candidate must possess strong leadership experience and strong communication skills.  At the start date the Chief of Police must live within 10 miles of the borough.  A successful candidate must possess knowledge and proficiency in Police Department operations and practices and work with Borough leaders and administration. 

This will be a non-civil service position.  The candidate must be Act 120 certified and have MPOETC certification or be MPOETC eligible.  All applicants may be subject to a non-competitive exam and/or oral interview.
