Due to the growing problem with bed bugs, our company must protect our employees with the handling of mattresses and box springs. These items of course are part of the bulk that is removed under the specification of the contract. We now must insist that all mattresses and box springs be wrapped with plastic before collection. Thank You.

The below options and information should assist with any questions you may have regarding this process. This new procedure will be effective February 1, 2019. This information is also available on our website,

  • Have mattress company remove old mattress/box spring (if applicable)

  • Save wrapping from new mattress/box spring if bedding company will not remove and use that wrapping for old mattress/box spring to set out for bulk trash

  • All bags must be “encasement bag” (covering all sides of the mattress/box spring) sealed and not vented.

  • Bags can be purchased from any large box store; Kmart, Walmart, Target, Home Depot, Lowes, Bed Bath & Beyond and U-Haul stores

  • they can also be purchased on-line through Amazon and

  • Average cost runs from $5 on up depending on size

  • A Painter’s plastic drop cloth would also work, just be sure all sided are covered, and the seams are sealed with duct tape or packing tape.
